Trailer Trash – A Dangerous Method

by deerinthexenonarclights

David Cronenburg’s latest sexual psycho-drama A Dangerous Method (also known as The Talking Cure for those that have been following the film for a while) has dropped its first trailer here:

I’ve been looking forward to this film for a very long time for a whole host of reasons; anything modern-day Cronenburg makes is a must-see, but him directing that cast (David’s but-buddy Viggo Mortenson, man of the hour Michael Fassbender and the always charismatic Vincent Cassell) in a film with such an intriguing concept (charting the sordid, tumultuous friendship between psychologies two best minds, Freud and Jung) is already a potential masterpiece. Although this brief tease didn’t blow me away as such, I was previously unsure as to how all these elements would come together and the trailer has clarified a lot that for me. The project seems much more suited to Cronenbururg’s oeuvre  now that I know that it is going to be about sexual perversions in particular, the cast seems to have bent those great, unapproachable names into characters and the psychology is there underneath all that drama. Very much hoping that this hits MIFF, or that it gets an Australian release before the year is out.
