Tom Waits Private Listening Party

by deerinthexenonarclights

God I’d love to have been the one in that car with Tom, shifting the suspension to and fro, into the night. What? Oh no, I didn’t mean in a Titanic kind of way, although…

If you’re wondering what the hell it is I’m rambling about then watching this will explain it all, kinda:

Tom Waits isn’t a god on earth, he’s more like a Devil or maybe he’s both at once; who’s to say that they’re really any different from one another? Either way his music is ridiculously good and he has made a ridiculously large amount of it, dropping decades worth of masterful material into every possible genre while always retaining that distinctive Tom Waits tone; so no-one had any idea what to expect from this, his first new release in over five years: Would it be a rap album, classical ballads, prog rock, would producers have tried and failed to fix the voice that broke Autotune?

It’s still a little hard to tell but from the quick snippets that we are given in this faux-promo video it seems a safe bet to say that it’s going to be good. The first, titular single Bad As Me is due out today with the rest of the album following it on October 25th (why not the 31st? Surely that suits). I’ll ba back with more thoughts as soon as I can get my hands on the location of Tom’s car.
