Just Posting this here for ease. Read if you want but it won’t interest most.

Saturday the 4th
- 1:30 Into the Abyss
- 6:30 The Sessions
Thursday the 9th:

Friday the 10th

- 9:00 Seeking a Friend for the End of the World*
Monday the 13th
- 6:30 Amour
Wednesday the 15th
- 1:30 Broken
-9:00 Dark Horse *

Want to see both of those films on the first Friday but have tickets to a Twerps gig unfortunately.
Otherwise I’ll be seeing Into the Abyss, Beasts of the Wild, Amour and possibly Dark Horse with you. I’ve got tickets for Holy Motors, Patience and Moonrise Kingdom already too.
Tempted to see Moonrise again, it was that good. Think Shadow Dancer might be up your alley from the sounds of it, The Sessions too. Dark Horse I am a bit iffy on myself, but we shall see.
Also, Patience on Friday the Tenth? Tempted to see that one and I have a free day ticket to use. Might see how i’m faring for that one too.
That is a busy schedule – lucky you don’t have a life. Would you be miffed if you missed one more than the other?
That is easily the most relaxed MIFF schedule that I’ve had in years, there are no days in which I see more than two films and plenty of time off in between those in which I do.
Speaking of that lack of life though, they have organized a Meet Me at MIFF speed-dating service in the lounge of the Forum Theatre this year; so I’m obviously not alone in my priority set. Though I do plan to stay that way otherwise, I don’t think i’m desperate enough to sign up for that. Especially since I might see you there!
I reckon seeking muff at miff is a good idea, where else would we find other people who might think staying in for a film marathon is a good idea for a date!
Both of you gents should also make sure you watch ‘The Story of Film’ series. It’s taken up the majority of my past two weeks and is a necessity for anyone interested in the history of cinema.
I’ve got one more undecided film up my sleeve but so far my schedule is this Luke –
Saturday 4th
- Into the Abyss
-The Sessions
Sunday 5th
- You’re Sister’s Sister
Tuesday 7th
- Moonrise Kingdom
Wednesday 8th
- Killer Joe
Friday 10th
- Patience
- Beasts of the Southern Wild
Saturday 11th
- Holy Motors
Monday 13th
-Amour
Tuesday 14th
-The House I Live In
- Safety Not Guaranteed
Thursday 16th
- Oslo, 31st August
A nice line-up indeed. Still not sure what I think of Mark Duplass but Sister’s Sister was a good iteration of the Sundance drama. Holy Motors seems the kind of movie that you probably have to see in a cinema to truely enjoy, but even before we get going I’m not sure that I can be bothered. House is something that I was tempted towards but might have to wait for DVD.
Not many Doco’s this year…yet. No Hara-Kiri for you? It’s in 3D and we know how well MIFF handles screening those after Cave.
I quite like Duplass from the stuff of his I’ve seen. Also would like to see Damsels in Distress but that’s probably one I can wait for on DVD. No Hara-Kiri for me (I see Miike has three or more films in this year, gee he is prolific), I love the original film and it almost seems too sacred to remake. Just realised Alps is by the director of Dogtooth so on that basis alone I think I’ll make it my last selection.
Marcey was suggesting that and it sounds…intriguing. I can make it to both sessions, though that and Amour in the one day may well cause me to commit suicide.
Damsels wasn’t anything special, definitely wait for DVD on that one.
